Hey, I'm James
A Product Designer, with a firm understanding of UX, Branding and Marketing.

Lead Product Designer

Blockade Games is a leading blockchain video game development studio that paved the way for blockchain gaming with their titles Pineapple Arcade and Plasma Bears.
I have spent the last 2 years working on their latest flagship title Neon District.
My role as Lead Product Designer has been to work closely with the creative, design and development teams to build the entire game from the ground up whilst establishing workflows, company processes and documentation to keep momentum and move the project forward.
My Responsibilities include:
- Conducting user research and facilitating group conversations to help guide and clarify project goals
- Facilitating a variety of User Experience Strategy workshops
- Creating User Flows, Wireframes and Prototypes
- Creating High Fidelity Mockups and Prototypes
- Building and maintaining our design system
- Create design specifications for engineering teams that capture the key conceptual, interactive, and visual design details.
- Manage the product design schedule and resource allocations according to importance and deadlines.
- Manage Design Sprints and Jira tasks for multiple team members.

Product Designer
July 2018 - October 2021
Similie is rethinking how an enterprise resource management platform can be designed and engineered to better suit emerging markets. This work includes developing Timor-Leste’s first-ever flood early warning system, smart metering of community water supply systems, as well as a military logistics and asset management platform.
My contributions:
- Facilitated and prepared UX workshops with Similie's clients including stakeholders from the Australian Defence Force, the Timor-Leste Defence Forces and the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
- Introduced user research strategies.
- Developed a design system to create consistency across their core product One, which is currently being used for:
- Logistics and asset management
- Accountability and reporting
- Personnel management
- Smart metering of community water supply systems
- Early warning systems.
- Lead the visual design of Timor-Leste's first Disaster Risk Reduction and Flood Early Warning System platform.
- Designed and developed auto-reply HTML email templates for the platform.
- Lead the user experience and interface design of a Logistics and Personnel Management platform for the Timor-Leste Military.
- Art Directed and managed the production of product explainer videos, presentations and investor pitch decks.
- Designed and managed external contractors for the development of Similie's marketing website and communications materials.
- Improved work processes by spearheading product management tools and workflows that have increased efficiency across our remote team.
